Review:

Unshakable is the fourth book in the Wayward Fighters series by J.C. Valentine and is part of the Red Candy Box Set releasing in July 2015. It’s a New Adult Contemporary novella that wraps up the lives of Jami and Aly, Spencer and Liv, and everyone’s favorite cantankerous old codger, Don.

Despite the dramatic moment that takes place very early on, I enjoyed being inside Don’s head. Learning about him in a way that in previous books, other than being told, I hadn’t been able to. It was nice to see the love he has for Jami manifest itself in a choice that he makes and also how adamant he is that it happen.

As a fan of this series, it was nice to see the way that everything wraps up, especially for Jami and Aly. As far as endings to series’ go, this one was touching. It was sweet, emotionally gripping at moments (which given the length I hadn’t expected it to be), humorous and at times downright awww-worthy. I also enjoyed the way Spencer and Jami interacted here. Given everything that they’ve been through in the previous books, it was nice to see them on the road to recovery friendship wise.

This being part of a box set, I knew going in that it wasn’t going to be long. That in the end it would have a short story feel to it and I was right. This is a very quick read, but one that does deliver the ending that it bills.

As trying a time as all of these characters had, it was nice to see the hand that life deals them later down the line. The happiness that Jami and Aly experience, the love that remains true even after the previous two books (and Spencer’s) ended.

For anyone that has read any of the other books in this series, you will enjoy this ending. It was everything it claimed to be and more. It was a real treat to read and one that I’m grateful I got to be a part of in receiving the ARC.

J.C. you have outdone yourself. Thank you for writing such a beautiful ending. Cannot wait to see what you come up with next.
